It is with the heaviest of hearts that I have to announce that we are no longer able to operate the Owl Tree Café during this current pandemic and are closed with immediate effect.
We (the directors, staff and volunteers) have invested a great deal personally into this business and were desperate to remain open but in light of the Govt. announcement today, we feel that we risk potentially putting our customers at risk by remaining open at this time. We are a business that is built on community and peer support and it is frankly devastating that it has come to this. We know and fear, the impact that social isolation will have on us all in the coming months. We have plans (to be unveiled further) to partner with another local business to bring parents help, support and a sense of community during this ongoing pandemic and I promise to broadcast songtime daily!!! (watch this space!)
We hope to return, as soon as it is safe and viable to do so but can only do so if we are able to get our accounts in order and pay our existing commitments in terms of salaries, rent etc.
As you all know, we are a not for profit (Community interest) company and as such we work to a tight budget. Loosing income recently and closing mid month has left us with a deficit.
We will be applying to the government for any available funding once this is made available but in the interim, and with a view of sustainability and returning to business as normal, we are asking if any of our customers would be willing to donate a small amount of what they would have paid, had they been able to attend the café as normal; whether this just be the entrance fee for a couple of weeks or entrance fee and a toastie!
We have set up a Just Giving page to try and raise the funds to help us ride the tide of this unknown period. Please give what you can afford and help us come back fighting soon!
With love, gratitude and heartfelt apologies. Hannah x x x
