WELCOME BACK

The Owl Tree Children’s Café is a Community Interest Company (CIC). We were set up to make a difference in our community by supporting parents and carer’s of pre-school children in offering a safe, affordable space that addresses the need of both parent and child.

Local lockdown restrictions mean that whilst we remain in Tier 3, we are unable to serve and food or beverage (further info below). This is a blow to our business that heavily relies on sales from food and drink to cover our outgoings.

We do however feel our social responsibility and to that end we have decided to re-open, initially between 7th and 23rd December (weekdays only) as a support group.

We plan on making this time count and although we can’t serve our delicious food and drink, we can make the experience fun and magical!

We will be going all out with keepsake crafts, activities, sensory and messy play all in our Christmas party ‘Winter Wonderland’ theme.

COVID safety:

We take your safety seriously at the Owl Tree Children’s Café and we have a stringent Covid Safety policy (available on this website).

We are rotating all toys between sessions and have invested in a Sterimax Disinfecting Fogger which effectively and pervasively disinfects large areas within just minutes. The fogger takes 1 minute to kill all bacteria and an average of 5 minutes to kill all viruses. It is safe for use around food and is touch safe for children.

In line with government guidelines, we will require all adults (unless medically exempt) to wear a face covering when in the building and to wash their hands on arrival. Hand sanitizer will be available.

We will NOT be allowed more than 15 adult in the room at any one time (including our 3 staff) so please consider carefully when making a booking and ideally attend with only one adult per family (some exceptions will be made to this rule on request).

Café Restrictions & serving food & drink: Tier 3

Whilst we have been given the go ahead from the local authority to open as a support group for parents and children; whilst we are in tier 3 we are prevented from serving ANY food or drink. We have also taken the decision not to offer take away food at this time.

We have contacted the public health team at Newcastle City Council who have confirmed that adults will not be able to consume food whilst on the premises but that parents can bring snacks for their children if required as long as everyone is rigorous with handwashing before and after consuming food and that all food is consumed at a table.

I hope that helps, especially those of you who have bookings that fall over lunchtime.

If we move into tier 2, we will immediately resume the full café menu.

Many thanks for your help and understanding.
